So, I had an urge to play EDH. Sadly, things around the house kept me from going out to the EDH event being held at noon. I decided to try Magic: Online.
First, in order to play Magic: Online, I needed a to do a couple things.
1)Wire the Ethernet ports that a friend and I installed in my walls.
2)Run an Ethernet cable through another wall to my PC in the basement.
3)Install 99 updates for Windows XP (this computer has not been online in 3+ years)
4)Install .NET version 4.
Boom, ready to go .
I "purchased" the EDH Deck "Mirror Mastery" and took it for a spin. "Mirror Mastery" is one of the preconstructs out of commander that uses "Riku of Two Reflections". The deck list, for those of you who care, is below.

So, a far cry from a good Commander deck. I pushed on and played 4 games.
Game 1 vs Zur the Enchanter (1 v 1)
Zur came out turn 3 and got hit with a Vow of Lightning.
I built up an armada and removed Zur with Disaster Radius. My opponent never recovered. I do not think Zur is very good in a 1 v 1 game...
Game 2 vs. Thraximundar (1 v 1)
I was able to hold my own and get my opponent down to 18 life. Sadly, he cast the enchantment where every player sacrifices a non-zombie during their upkeep. I lost all my creatures and Thraximundar hammered me.
Game 3 vs. Edric (1 v 1)
Long story short, I countered Edric with Spell crumple on Turn 3 and my opponent conceded. (He mad)
Game 4 vs. Sliver Overlord vs. Sen Triplets vs. Sedris (4 way FFA)
This was a great game. I started out being hated by Slivers for Crumpling his Overlord. We were all trading blows. Sadly, not having great cards in my deck really showed here. Sheoldred and Control magic and Geneis Wave are just too damn good for me to deal with. Sen triplets went out first. I followed by having all of my creatures (and their token copies) Capsized to my hand. (Yes, a lot of mana required to do that). Sedris killed me on turn 18. Sedris then lost to time. (There is a countdown like in chess, if it runs out for you, you lose)
I really enjoyed playing despite the obvious disadvantage. I also really enjoyed the ability to watch games. That, I think, for me is my favorite part of Magic: Online.
Until next time.
